Virat's mind was totally wrecked.
Each word that she uttered were sharper than dagger, her accusations stung him.
She labeled him a rich spoilt brat, he felt so low in front of her. He admits
that his single mistake has caused mishap for the Choudary's and he is accountable
for the fire. His guilt was already killing him and her accusations added salt
to his wound. He didn't know how to redeem himself from the blunder that he has
caused.
He felt the familiar touch on his
shoulder, the same touch that always relieved him when he was down, shielded
him whenever he was vulnerable. "Bhai, aap aur yahan?" he was
surprised to see Viren there. "Bhai, yeh mera sasural. Mera aana ka haq
banta hai" he smirked at his little brother. "What are you doing here
alone when everyone else is downstairs Virat?" he questioned him.
"Bhai, I don't know how to face all of them? My single mistake has caused
so much of misery for them but yet no one uttered a single word against me. Not
even a slightest sign anger or hatred on me. I would have been freed of my
guilt if Beeji or Chachu would have taunted me but they have been extra nice to
be me so that I don't feel bad. This feeling is killing me and worst of all,
the one whom I expected me to be by my side now refuses to even give me a chance
to explain. You don't know how much I hate myself now; I have never felt so low
about myself ever!" Virat vented out his bottled emotions.
Viren sensed that his brother is
tangled with guilt, anger, frustration and depression and his heart ached to see
him brother in this state and immediately his dad's words came into his mind.
"Viren beta, I need a promise from you. Your younger brother may seem
stronger due to his physique and you may feel intimated by him at times but
deep inside he is still a child, your little brother. He uses his physique
appearance to shield his fear and insecurities but of course he is not weak at
the same time. He is just impulsive and most of the times his emotions
overpowers his logical mind. He is true example of the saying follow your heart
but I have realized that you need emotional support when you endure the path
desired by your heart. Your heart will never fail as your logical mind might do
but it is a rough path with thorns and obstacles. You may have the whole world
including your loved ones against you and often drives you to verge of giving
up and making the wrong decisions in life. That is the time when you need one
person to pat your shoulder and tell you that everything will be fine. I truly
understand how it feels since I see dominant traits of myself in Virat whereby
I see strong resemblance of your mum in you. She is well composed, calm and my
pillar of support who stood by me all times being a devoted wife, true friend,
honest critic and perfect bahu for your dadaji. Although she came late in my
life but I'm glad she did. I'm what I am today because of her. I owe her for
everything I have achieved today. I want Virat to have what I was bestowed
later in life in the form of my wife. I want you to be his pillar of strength
for your little brother, his friend, his critic, his mentor, his inspiration that
I never had when I needed the most. That doesn't mean that you should pamper
him or spoil him, you should be the first one to correct him when he is at
wrong. I know I have entrusted such a huge responsibility on you on this tender
age because the brotherly bond needs to be established over time and not when
you feel you are ready. This is the time he needs you most but he refuses to
ask you. I'm now understand the position your Dadaji was when I needed the
support, the fatherly duty and instinct immediately empowered him to protect
his son from unknown and failure. The last thing a father would want to see is
his son in failure and he wants his life path to be rosy and obstacle free but
unfortunately it may not guarantee the fulfillment your heart desires. Neither
the father is wrong nor the son, their actions are justified from their point
of view and I understand it now when I'm a father myself. There will be moments
in life where he will be entangled in web of confusion and I want you to be the
person to guide him untangle himself." he finally spoke his heart to his
son, his successor. "Papa, I will not fail you as a son. I promise that I
will be there for my brother, to guide him when he needs me and bring him back
to the right track when he is diverted" Viren assured his father and saw
his father beaming in pride. Till today, he has been upholding the faith
entrusted on him even after the demise of his father. He never knew whether his
father knew his days were numbered or he saw something that no one saw in him
and his brother when he entrusted the responsibility on him. Today, his brother
is again entangled and it is his duty to show him the way and teach him to free
himself and follow his heart.
"Bhai, your silence is
killing me" Virat's question broke his train of thoughts. "Nahi bhai,
I’m just lost in my thoughts, how we can resolve this. Nothing is impossible,
we just need to find the right way to ensure Chachu and family are out of their
trouble yet not offended or intimated from our actions" Viren replied him.
"Bhai, I have always got myself into mess and troubled you since young.
Right from schooldays till now!" Virat confessed. "I have never
redeemed you from any of your mess but I have always guided you when your mind
is fogged by your emotions. You just need a ray of light when your mind is in
dark, then your heart will show you the way. I think I'm a better lawyer today
because of you, you have indirectly enhanced my analytical skills with your
problems" he joked to ease the tension in the air. "What has happen
was due to you carelessness but there is no point dwelling over past. It takes
great courage to admit your mistake in front of everyone and taking
accountability. I know you are guilty of what has happen but what is really
bothering you is Manvi. She is the reason you are in this state but I want you
to think from her position. Both of you may not spell out the name for your
relationship I know it is beyond the frenemy or partners. What would have you
done if Manvi made a mistake that has jeopardize our family, wouldn't you be in
the same state as her? Your concern for your family would have taken precedence
than your affection for her. It is the advancement of your relationship that
has given her the rights and authority to be angry with you while the rest
might still see you as Jeevika's devar. She is the only one who saw you as
Virat, her partner and I know even her slightest taunt will break you but can
you imagine how broken she would be when her whole family taunts you. Every
girl wants her better half to be the reason her family smiles not cry but
knowing Jeevika's family, they will look for silver lining even in a thunder
storm. It is their warmth and positivity that makes them so special."
Viren shed some light for Virat.
Realization hit Virat for the
first time; he failed to see the love and pain behind Manvi's words. It would
have hurt her as much as it did to him, those heart piercing words would have
pierced her before reaching him. His emotions fogged his mind to see beyond
himself and he was glad for Viren to freeing him of it. "Bhai, I have a
suggestion. We know Chachu or Beeji would never accept any financial help from
us and even if we manage to convince them, it will only leave them feeling
obliged and indebted to us. My wrong move shouldn't cause the whole family to
be indebted to us. I won't be able to undo my mistake but I can contribute to
ease their burden. What if we help them to rebuild their shop and improvise it?
I will help Chachu re-establish his business and get back to track. What do you
think Bhai?” Virat asked his brother. Viren was impressed with his suggestion,
“Arey mere Bhai, perfect idea yaar. Maine bhi nai soocha. This is something
Chachu won’t be able to decline.” Viren exclaimed in joy. “Bhai, how do we
convince Chachu or Beeji to agree? I don’t think I will be able to do that
Bhai!” Virat sulked. “Virat, mera bhai. main hoon na. Leave the presenting and
convincing part to me, akhiri lawyer hoon mein.” Viren assured his brother
while pulling him into a hug. “Thank you so much Bhai, I can’t imagine what I
would have done without you today” Virat said as he hugged his brother. “Anything for my bhai. After all bhai huh
tera” Viren replied back while caressing his brother’s hair. He looked up to
the sky and saw a shining star above them “Papa, I will be there for him as I
promised you. Main hoon na…” he told himself.
